What are Rubber Bellows?
The rubber bellows are a very important component of automobiles, especially steering system of cars. Designed to keep dirt and debris out of the steering rack, rubber bellow is a cylindrical vessel that comes in a large variety of sizes, shapes, construction and elastomer coated fabrics/ rubbers to suit diverse application requirements of vehicles. Due to different annular convolutions, bellows are easily extensible & compressible and are appreciated for providing excellent cushioning effect. These are used to protect, cover and enhance the service life of various machine parts such as lead screws, spindles, shafts, guide ways, pistons, cylinders, and more from dust & other foreign particles.
Apart from the automotive rubber bellows which are used in automobiles, the rubber bellows also find application in other areas like Motion Coupling, Chemical, Electrical Contacts, HVAC, Petrochemical, among others. To suit specific industrial application, different types of rubber bellows are available in the market including single ended rubber bellows, double ended rubber bellows, rubber bellows with ribs and rubber bellows without ribs.
Materials Used in Rubber Bellows:
Depending upon the end use requirements, rubber bellows are manufactured using various synthetic polymers like:
• SBR
• Neoprene
• HNBR
• Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (EPM, EPDM), etc.
Application Areas of Rubber Bellows:
Rubber Bellows are designed in molded and hand-built variety, and are available in different sizes as well as specifications in order to cater multiple automotive & general industrial applications. Following are some of the industrial segments/ applications Rubber Bellows are used in:
- Aerospace: HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning)
- Automotive: Marine
- Chemical: Motion Coupling
- Electrical Contacts: Petrochemical
- Fluid Coupling: Semiconductor
Factors To Consider While Buying Rubber Bellows
Find below certain features that are to be considered while purchasing rubber bellows:
- Material used in designing the bellow (the inside material should be suited to oil, lubricants and grease, and on the outside it should be susceptible to conditions like UV and ozone)
- Shape of the rubber bellow (rectangular, round, square, tapered, C-type, hexagon, octagon, polygon, to name a few)
- Inside diameter of the bellow
- Outside diameter of the bellow
- The free or the unloaded length of the bellow along the convolutions
- The spring rate or the spring force that the bellow applies
We are counted as leading manufacturer, supplier and exporter of all types of rubber bellows, automotive rubber bellows, molded rubber bellows, single ended rubber bellows, double ended rubber bellows, rubber bellows with ribs and rubber bellows without ribs.
